This limited edition silk scarf reproduces a hand-colored copper engraving of the constellations of the northern stellar hemisphere of antiquity from the 1708 edition of Harmonia Macrocosmica by the Dutch-German cosmographer Andreas Cellarius (c. 1596-1665), in the collection of The Hispanic Society of America. First printed in 1660, Cellarius’ Harmonia Macrocosmica is widely regarded as the most beautiful and finely executed celestial atlas ever published, and is but one of the many treasures found in the renowned collection of early manuscript and printed maps and charts in the Hispanic Society’s Department of Manuscripts and Rare Books.
