
Education Mission
TheΒ Museum Education, Academic Programs, and Community Engagement Department at the Hispanic Society Museum & Library mediates the collection, exhibitions, and mission of the institution through informal learning experiences and arts engagement for museum users on site, off site, and onΒ virtual platforms. Our diverse content deepens understanding about our institution’s history, itsΒ objectsΒ and their interpretation; advances the public conversations about the arts and humanities; encourages artistic expression, fostering appreciation for human creativity and for theΒ HispanicΒ cultures around the world. TheΒ Department has made it a key priority to expand its reach and impact in the local neighborhoods of Harlem,Β Washington Heights, and Inwood.β―Β
Education Programs
The Education Department carries out its mission through a variety of programs, including:
- Gallery-based educational programs such as guided visits
- Academic symposia, lectures, and roundtables
- Interactive arts engagement, including art-making workshops, dance performances, and concerts
- Film screenings and live performances
