A Global Footprint

The Hispanic Society recently announced a landmark agreement with the Generalitat ValencianaΒ outlining plans to establish the museum’s first international location in Valencia. Housed in the Palacio de las Comunicaciones in the heart of Valencia, The Hispanic Society of America – ColecciΓ³n Sorolla will exhibit more than 220 pieces on loan from the Hispanic Society’s renowned collection of work by Valencian painter JoaquΓn Sorolla. Featuring oil paintings, gouaches, drawings, photographs, sculptures, and personal correspondence, the new museum will offer an unprecedented opportunity to view works by Sorolla in his home city. In addition to strengthening the ties between the two communities, this project highlights the key role played by Hispanic Society founder Archer M. Huntington in championing Sorolla’s career. As the Hispanic Society continues to renovate its historic campus in New York to add more spaces to display our collection, we are happy to be able to lend these works so they can be enjoyed by new audiences in a city that meant so much to their creator. The museum is slated to open in 2026. Stay tuned for more updates as this project progresses.
