Sketch Out! Screen-Break: Unplug to Reconnect at the Hispanic Society

Unleash your creativity and express yourself with an afternoon of art-making on the terrace!

In collaboration with Manhattan Community School District 6’s Screen-Free Week,Β the Hispanic Society invites you to an afternoon of art and performance.

Between 3pm-5pm, attend guided tours of ourΒ exhibitions, take sketching lessons and community portrait sessions with theΒ Arts Student League, and participate in an improv class withΒ The People’s Theater. All programming will be available in English and Spanish.

About Screen-Free Week:

Parents, educators, and school leaders concerned about the omnipresence of screens both inside and outside the classroom are coming together to pilot the first-ever Manhattan Community School District 6 Screen-Free week, taking place May 25–31, 2026.

During the three school days that week, students will receive double recess, giving them more time to engage in real-life play and build community with their peers. Throughout instructional hours, there will be no use of screens, videos, or educational technology.

Screen-Free will also offer opportunities for local children and families to connect after school through activities and shared experiences, free from online distractions.
