Spring 2024 Programming at the HSM&L

Monday, June 3, 2024 at 6:30-7:30pm – Audubon Terrace (Broadway Between 155th & 156th Streets) 

Outdoor music performance: Annette A. Aguilar & Stringbeans 

In conjunction with the Uptown Arts Stroll, the Hispanic Society Museum & Library will host an outdoor music performance on June 3rd! Come by at 6:30 to enjoy Annette A. Aguilar & Stringbeans perform an evening of Latin Brazilian Jazz presented by NOMAA. In the case of rain, the event will be held in the Sorolla Gallery.

Artist Roundtable Discussion: Dominican Yorks at the Hispanic Society 

Join us for a roundtable discussion where artists Reynaldo Garcia Pantaleón, Chiqui Mendoza, and Rider Ureña will speak on their works in the exhibition, Dominican Yorks at the Hispanic Society. The conversation will be moderated by Angela García.

Artist Talk: Enrique Martínez Celaya – The Word-Shimmering Sea 

Join us for conversation with artist Enrique Martinez Celaya about his current exhibition, The Word-Shimmering Sea: Diego Velázquez / Enrique Martínez Celaya – on view now in the Hispanic Society’s main gallery. The talk will be moderated by curator and Executive Director Guillaume Kientz.

Thursday June 20, 2024 at 6:00-7:30pm – Sorolla Gallery | Broadway Between 155th & 156th Streets 

NYSCA Artist Performance: Cuarto de Pegar/ Collage Parlor 

Cuarto de Pegar / Collage Parlor is a performance by artist Pablo Helguera that includes storytelling, poetry, and music, culminating a year of research and exploration of aspects of the collection of the Hispanic Society during his NYSCA artist research fellowship. This event will feature a solo performance, a theatrical monologue, that incorporates poetry, song, and storytelling in pieces composed by the artist.
