Dominican Yorks

Project Room, February 23 – June 30, 2024. Co-curated by Reynaldo Garcia Pantaleón, Chiqui Mendoza, and Rider Ureña

The exhibition spotlights three Dominican-born New York-based visual artists who will co-curate an exhibition of works created in artistic dialog with the Hispanic Society’s collection based on their individual aesthetic approaches and their unique perspective as Dominican immigrants in New York. The artists will develop and facilitate a series of programs including artists’ talks, workshops, and guided visits. Dominican Yorks at the Hispanic Society aptly opens during the celebration of Dominican Heritage Month.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.

The Hispanic Society’s programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
