Dear Members and Friends of the Hispanic Society Museum and Library

During this difficult time of “social distancing”, the arts connect us to one another as individuals, communities, and societies. While at the Hispanic Society we have suspended the Vision of Spain Tours, Library appointments and programs until we can resume operations, we are firmly committed to using technology to help foster connectedness and ensure that you can still experience the power of our collections.
As you know, the Hispanic Society’s collections encompass over 4,000 years of the creative output of the Iberian Peninsula, Latin America, the Philippines, and Portuguese India. As we think of our members, friends, and community in this exceptional time, we want to share online the enormous riches of the cultures of the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world as a resource for inspiration and connection. As part of that mission, we are revising our website in order to provide additional virtual experiences through videos of our traveling Treasuresexhibition, and we encourage you to stay in touch with us through our Facebook and Instagram accounts. We also encourage you to explore our collections through our online databases, which we are expanding every week.

Our staff also continues to meet the many challenges of the current health crisis, protecting our unparalleled collections, maintaining our infrastructure, providing crucial operational support and expanding our online offerings. They are the Hispanic Society’s greatest asset, and we proudly and gratefully acknowledge their contributions.

I also take this opportunity to thank all of you for your unfailing support and commitment to fostering the art and culture of Latin America and Spain. Stay safe and healthy, and we look forward to seeing or hearing from you again soon,

Philippe de Montebello, Chairman of the Board

Mitchell Codding, Executive Director & President
